Hi, Jörg.
        You said
Not really, but so far I was avoiding to let it grow into a spoken
user
manual. ;-)

Sorry, I thought the instructions on what to do were displayed. If
they're not displayed, that is, if people are just supposed to know from the
manual that they need to hit f2 to write a CFG file or play to confirm
delete, then I don't think it's needed to put in spoken prompts. I'd only do
so if the prompts are themselves displayed. If stuff that wasn't displayed
were put in the voice file, there'd be no end to it (please press off switch
to turn machine off...) <laugh>.

        You said
Space in the voice file is an issue, so we should keep it short. I'll have a
look next time.

True enough, as I think there are only another hundred or so K left
(the Mary voice I'm using is 1.38 MB). There could always be a few clips
reused, though, so it might not be adding too much. If it is, it's not
vital. BTW, sorry for the stupid question, but where does the 1.5 MB
limitation come from? Is it because the units have 2 MB of memory? Do they
need 500 K free at all times, or is that where the actual rockbox code
resides?

Only if this is a fixed location, otherwise difficult (spell?).

Not really, but so far I was avoiding to let it grow into a spoken user

Space in the voice file is an issue, so we should keep it short. I'll have a
