This sounds like a great project - it makes me want to go out and get a sony HU!

For those of us who haven't opened up our rockboxes yet, what hardware hacks are
required?

I'm guessing that we would need to do the following:

  * serial mod (http://rockbox.haxx.se/mods/serialport.html)
  * rs232 converter (http://rockbox.haxx.se/mods/rs232.html)
  * gnunilink converter (http://gnunilink.sourceforge.net/)

Is this correct? Are any of these steps *not* necessary?
