Subject: implementing sort by date / what do you think?

Hello,

I'm about to implement a sort by date+time feature, as a choice to the
standard alphabetic sorting. Am I the only one needing this? It surprises me
that there is no stronger demand.

My standard situation is that I browse my folders (representing albums),
looking for the new stuff I added recently. However, when I enter the
directory with the tracks, a sort by time would be no good, disturbing the
track order. So to avoid switching the sort mode all the time, I'd
personally prefer to sort only directories by date, the files in alpabetical
order like it used to be. (What a strange mode.) Other people with lots of
(e.g. chart) tracks in a directory may however want to have files sorted by
date as well.

So how about a new option:
- sort alphabetically (default)
- sort by date+time
- sort directories by time, files alphabetically

Or an independent choice for files and directories? Or does nobody except me
need/want any of those?

Jörg
