Wind a few of the turns of the headphone cable round a stub of pencil to make a coil. five turns minimum really, but 3 will help a little. Put the cable immediately below where the cable divides, if it does, but try it at different points along the cable, to see how the effect differs. This will work better if you run the headphones through an extension cable, as they'll be more cable to make the coil from. The reason it works is, that although the cable's insulated, there's still a little inductance from it. You need to make sure that the turns round the pencil or whatever you use (the fatter the better, but you'll use more of your cable), are touching each other. If you've got a spare extension cable, you could make yourself a permanent aerial, in which case, cover whatever you use to make the body of the coil with tin foil, then put the cable on, then cover the whole with insulating tape. Don't buy a good extension cable to make the aerial, as the insulation is better, and therefore the inductance is lower. The archos headphones aren't doing you any favours, as headphones that divide before the ear pieces will create a dy poll effect thus also making reception better. The classic dy poll effect is a Y-shape, which is what you get from a pair of headphones where both ear-pieces are connected individually. Hope that helps. Is there anyway of improving it that anyone knows of? _______________________________________________ http://cool.haxx.se/mailman/listinfo/rockbox --- Incoming mail is certified Virus Free.
