Thanks to all who replied on this. Sorry to hear Archos has changed their
boxes such that this firmware won't work on them. Anyone who could come up
with something like rockbox to run on current boxes, esp. with the speech,
would be a big hit with blind and visually impaired folks. Unfortunately my
programming expertise isn't in such an area, tinkering with such stuff, or
I'd do it myself. Hopefully I'll be able to get my hands on a v2 or a
Studio after more research, or some other player offering speech. Such
players are expensive in the extreme and those of us who need such things
get taken for all the money we don't have already due to our disability. So
goes the ways of this world...
