Another thing that came in my mind:

Are there any specific voltage levels for the 9V models ?
My original 220V power adapter supplies around 13V with load.
Could it be possible that the Rockbox charging algorithm gets fooled if the
power voltage is lower (e.g. in my case around 8.9V) ?
