Hi Joe,

if you're looking for a simple plugin, you might take a look at the
Etch-A-Sketch plugin which I started (it's in the patches on sourceforge).
It shows some basic principles like opening and saving files, screen
drawing, button handling. I started it to learn C, too.
Dunno about the licensing stuff though (have not really an idea of what
it's all about; it just seems rockbox is neat, and I code a bit for it,
and don't care what kind of open source it is).
Oh, and be on the IRC channel and bug the people with questions you have.
I do that too :-)
And there's a plugin documentation in the cvs tree.
