I have looked at that repair guide but as mine is a v2 the connections are
somewhat different. After playing about a bit I decided that perhaps one of
the cells in my battery was dead (it looks to have two halves). I then went
and powered up the recorder with an AC adapter with the battery removed
(through some fairly dubious wiring work) and still got the same message
except this time the voltage reading read 8.25V. I'm beginning to think
maybe it's a HDD problem, I have bought a 2.5" HDD USB case to see how that
does, I guess I'll know in time.
