I have fixed mine by removing the springs and soldering the Batteries in
with some short pieces of wire... Granted, Battery replacement will take
some time now, but I don't care.

Now I'd only need a fix for the "Cold NiMH-Cell"-Problem[1]... Maybe a
"Create a Short Circuit for a moment"-Switch? Just kidding.

[1] When the Cells are cold they can't give the juice the HDD wants, I
suspect - my Box goes from Playing to "fade out, fade In, stop".
