iRiver too.

iRiver - short 'stop' = stop. alternatively if you hold down the stop
button instead (for a second or two), it turns off instead (without
'stopping' first). Don't need to press stop twice. Just hold it down.

If the archos hardware doesn't allow this kind of behaviour, then I
understand.
