last weekend I bought brand new VARTA 2100 mAh batts and putted it directly in my Recorder. They were (normally) dead. When I pressed ON neither backlight, display or hdd came up, only a short "dark" flash of the power LED. I tried this some times, and nothing happens anymore. The batts were now totally dead. Even the archos firmware in the "rescue rom" with F1+ON doesn't came up at all. I plugged in the original charger, and bootbox in flash shows charging. " minutes later i pressed ON, and bootbox loaded the firmware from disk and it starts playing.

I let it charge for 4 hours with bootbox and the batts are now nearly full and I got nearly 8 hours runtime out of it.

some questions:

-is it possible to switch on backlight when charging in addiction of menu setting "backlight on when charging" or even a short backlight flash to show us the begin of the charging process in dark environment ?

-is it possible to center all text outputs on screen (better readability)

-the string "Rescue boot" is a little bit perplexing, perhaps "loading firmware from disk" is better?

-is it possible to get a feedback at the end of the charging process with bootbox like "charged" or blinking power LED or blinking screen or see the charging state in percent?

-is it possible to reset the runtime counter when the charger is plugged in like rockbox does?

All in all it works really persuading. Thanks.
