Hunting the time split bug.
---------------------------

here's some rather long info that might help fix the time spilt bug
that ruins very long recording before the 2.5 firmware is released.
Example files are available if you mail me privately.

Alas recordings sometimes contain bad frames that make the recording
unusualbe beyond the bad frame on windows software like Winamp or
mp3directcut..

>From my experience these errors occur more often on quality setting 7
and on a very high recording level. To find some examples I had two
recordings doing a quality 7 recording since thurday evening.
Timesplit is set to 5 minutes.

After 12 hours of the recording a split fails.

>From this point on no other file can be played or fixed on windows.
All files play on the jukebox.

Fixing the file with the error using mp3fixer works. The result plays.

Trying to fix the next file after the split
seems to work. But the file does not play.
So maybe it's not the frames, but some other problem?

C:\crash>mp3fixer fix2.mp3

 MP3FIXER: Processing fix2.mp3 ...

File ok. No Frame errors --> no fix.

Combining "fix1.mp3" and "fix2.mp3" into a big file "fix.mp3" is the
solution to make the audio playable on windows.

Firmware information:
AJR20 - daily build 050724-0618.
(the jukebox with the newest firmware is still recording)

LinusN can probably guess the file location :),
anyone else who wants to look at the files please mail me privately...

I'll try to get some more examples.

Martin
