In a nutshell, it runs Rockbox directly from ROM instead of copying it to
RAM at boot time, freeing about 150KB of precious space there. This gives
more playback buffer, the disk spins up less frequent, your batteries last
longer.

The extra space is e.g. also good for being able to view larger JPEGs or use
larger voice files.
