Eric, if you not want to build rockbox yourself, you can descramble ajbrec.ajz, find the 2 strings /recordings and change that to /!recording with an hex-editor and scramble it again. If you use rombox.ucl it's easier. Just make the changes in that file and "run" it in rockbox.

I can do this for you.

The problem with the setting "save recordings to current folder" is that you do not know everytime what folder that is...
