No. Wrong. Rockbox *must* not be affected by the politics that surround
us. I absolutely disagree with you on this point. We must avoid being
affected by politics at all costs. There's nothing that spells doom for
a project like Rockbox, like letting politics control it.

The goal of Rockbox is to create the best possible firmware. No more, no
less.

And for this reason, people should not take any action of Rockbox as a
political move. If they do, too bad on them, they're misunderstanding.

I don't see how this makes Rockbox a political project. It's simply
playing by other rules than commercial groups do.

The moment we start making decisions based on politics, is the moment we
take on responsibilities that we didn't previously had. If all our
decisions are purely motivated by technological merits, we cannot be
said to have any of the responsibility that you imply.

If you were running Rockbox as a one-man project, and part of your
decision making was based on what you think is right or wrong, I'd have
no problem with you leaving this out (I'd still think it was silly, but
that's as far as I'd go).

Of course, these are all personal opinions yadaydayda. I don't claim to
be speaking on behalf of any Rockbox "group".
