Re: rasher: firmware id3.c,1.110,1.111
Oh hell! I've resisted and resisted ...but there's only so long I can have
a carrot dangled in front of me before I decide to eat...
I think you're right Svante ...the word "nigger" should be removed from all
dictionaries - after all, the only purpose of having words with such power
is to allow one person to insult another effectively. If this word is
allowed to remain in the language, eventually we will have black people
referring to Each Other as "nigger" and suddenly the vernacular usage would
change to mean something like "outcast" - and we already have a word for that.
I also think you are right to use KEEP words such as "coward" and
expressions such as "ingorant asshole" ...these terms MUST remain ...how
else can one express their xenophobia or insult a group of programmers
who's work is primarily altruistic?!
However, the jury in my head is 'out' on the word "bigot" - if that word
were to be removed certain people would have no way to identify themselves
to others ...the expression "Hi, I am intollerant of people whos ideas and
opinons differ from my own" is just not as expressive as "Hi, I'm a bigot."
PPS. Most upset I got beat to calling "Godwin's Law"
>I must say, the cowardness of this development team surprises me! All
>out in defense of using the word nigger! Wow!!
