Thanks for the info. I have been pretty busy and was only skimming
the list before the hack so I guess I mis-read. I have 5 recorders
(one for me, one for the restaurant and 3 backups for when I break
mine), all flashed with something probably 6 months old so it won't
take too much work to update them.

Change of subject;

I finally zorched the first set of NiMH batteries from ordinary use. A
little over 2 years of at least one practically full discharge and
charge each day. I noticed about a month ago that the life had gone
way down. I watched the unit and observed it shutting off during disk
spoolup while the LED dimmed a LOT. The internal impedance of the
batteries was going up.

I changed them out for new ones and experimented. Neither my 1 hour
nor my 15 minute charger would charge them because of the high
internal resistance and resultant high terminal voltage. I charged
them on a 4 hour charger and then ran them down on my battery capacity
tester. If I kept the discharge rate low enough, practically the
specification capacity was available. Incapable of supplying any
significant current though.

I bet they've slowly dried out. I might pop the end off one and shoot
some distilled water in through the vent valve just to see if
hydration helps. Fun to experiment in any event.

I think I more than got my money's worth. These were Panasonic brand
from Mr Nicad.

So the normal F1+On rescue procedure will work. It makes room for the growing Rockbox image. I flashed my boxes without any probs and use latest rombox.
