regression in battery charging since going to 2.5?? (probably not but ..)

I have found my batteries are draining much faster since I went to
2.5+/rombox/bootbox

I must also note that (a) some batteries I am using are 2+ years old
(b) I have been using an external charger sometimes (c) I bought some
new 2500mah batteries from a non-name brand.

So while I'm asking if there is a regression in the charging, I suspect
its actually not rockbox.

Can I just get a confidence check nobody else is seeing this?
