I’ll let you know how I get on, presumably flashing it has the same effect as it does on the Archos, I.E. making it run faster, and possibly saving some battery power? Maybe one for the future, but can the HD be upgraded on the iriver? Hi patching the boot loader was a bit scary but if you take the easy method you should be fine. Flashing was more difficult to but with some sighted assistance you can get it foresure. If your brave then you can try it yourself it just involves memorizing the menu tree to run the patch. A good place to get started from scratch is: http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/QuickStart 1. Patch a firmware using fwpatcher or the commandline tools. 2. Flash that firmware with the iriver firmware upgrade process. 3. Install daily/bleeding edge build onto harddisk. 4. As the subject line says. Let me know how you’ve got on, as I’m about to try it. Anyone know when the release for the 3X series units will be available?
