He may need to remove the rockbox .HEX file.
I don't know the exact name of the first part of the file, but the extension
is .HEX. and it is in the root of the drive.
Also, if it will not boot, there is a reset button between the USB port and
the power plug, and it is a rather small hole.

Hello

Someone has writen me, that he can't reboot hes iRiver. He installed the
Rockbox-Bootloader and the firmware. And now he wonted the original Firmware
from Iriver and he removed the folder .rockbox and the file rockbox.iriver.
So, when he starts hes Player on the screen it's the message "Rockbox
Firmware Loading =" and then it happen nothing. Also the harddisc doesn't
start and if he connect his player to the PC he can't see the drive on the
desktop. What we can do?
