Thanks. Looks like I got a bum player man!

Tell me, is there an indicator light that tells me the unit is charging
when connected to the charger or USB?

Of the front buttons, hold the top left button for about 2 seconds, the
player should turn on. The lower left button should power it off.

If you're holding the unit so the screen is facing you, the lock switch
is along the right edge towards the top. Slide the switch down to lock
the controls, slide it back up to release the lock.

Along the left edge, you'll feel/notice the raised silver microphone
near the top. Just under that is a hole big enough for the end of a
paper clip to fit. You'll feel a distinct 'click' when you push
something in the hole.

> 4) Will the USB cable from the IHP-140 work with the H340?

The H340 takes a standard mini USB plug. Since the H340 has two plugs,
use the one along the bottom edge closer to the right side of the unit.
The one to the left just before the power input is for DRM music.
