Just an idea here, but - how well does your new H340 perform with the
stock firmware? Could it be you have a faulty unit (irrespective of the
software running on it)? Alternatively, if the iriver firmware behaves
just fine, and only rockbox seems to exhibit faults, have you tried running
Scandisk on the disk (when connected to a PC)? Rockbox stores its settings
on the hard drive whereas the iriver firmware stores its settings in
prom - if the disk is faulty then that might explain why rockbox fails to
store its settings correctly
Also - just for reference - which version of rockbox (and which version of
the rockbox bootloader) are you using?
