Yes, external USB drives all feature an USB to IDE bridge that is (or
should be) USB Mass Storage compatible.

This bridge has to support 48-Bit LBA-addressing to access more than
128GiB. But, as already was said, the MAS300 (?) that is used in JBR
only supports 128GiB...
