That won't help here. Car adapter mode is stored in the RTC in
order to be read before spinning up the disk.

When replacing the batteries with external power, and that power
source is cut, the RTC looses all settings. You can enable car
adapter mode as often as you want, the setting will be gone at
reboot (at least until the config sector is read from disk, but
then it's too late).

It's still possible to make the recorder boot directly after
power on, but that requires 2 things:

- the box must be flashable
- a special build of rockbox that always skips the charging
  screen. This must be flashed.
