HMM,
Okay, if the batteries or connecters are weak, I can change those out
myself if I read the Rock Box FAQ correctly, correct? Why is the battery
status not accurate when in use?

It could be that either your batteries are going weak, or your battery
connectors.

It could also be that the disk is used more, as it loads the .talk files

and the voice file ever so often. The battery readings are unaccurate
when the disk is in use.
