Thanks, although I think I figured it out. I managed to finally get it to
connect and reformat, and when it tries to format, it won't go past 35%. I
guess the harddrive I put in was dead to begin with. I'm going to try to see
if I can find another one.

Hi Joey,

Do you attach the Archos to the USB port with a cable? If so, it's possible
the cable is slowly dying. I had that happen with a Shuffle - sometimes
everything worked fine and sometimes it didn't. When I replaced the cable,
all went fine. Here's hoping a simple fix like that is all you need.
