Are you referring USB mode when running the OF or are you referring to
the bootloader USB mode (the display only displays "bootloader USB
mode" in that mode)?

Have you checked to have installed the correct build of rockbox? The
H100 build won't work on the H300 and so on. Also, have you tried
updating to a current cvs build? Maybe you picked a build which had
problems (though I don't remember if there was a crashing build
recently)
Also, I assume you can boot into the OF. Is this correct?
