Also, Melissa, try to see if the menus talk first. If a voice file is
installed, the menus should speak out of the box. Reach the menus by
pressing the a-b button which is the bottom right button on the front of
the unit.

If you hear speech, go to general settings and look for voice settings.
You need to turn on directory and file speaking. These are turned off
by default. This is why you don't hear and directory or file names
being spoken at the moment.

By the way, if you want to hear filenames spoken as words instead of
spelt, you'll need to get the voicebox package from the Rockbox web site
and use it to generate mp3 clips for the files on your player. Also,
you need to set the directory and file speaking options to talk mp3 clip.
