Although some care is needed. To quote from the manual:

"To load the Iriver firmware press and hold Rec before powering up the
player until the Iriver logo appears."

...but only until then.

Holding down Rec *after* Rockbox is starting up will clear all its
settings. As I've just done, sigh :)
