I read all the articles I could find concerning checking iPod models and
getting the 5.0 generation rather than the 5.5. I know this can be easily
determined once the unit is purchased but is there a simple way to tell
before I buy it?

Is there a new Rockbox compatible iPod model that can be easily recognized
prior to purchasing? Regular size iPod is OK, I would prefer USB - I am
looking for something where I can walk into the electronics store and easily
identify it is the right one. I would like something where she can later add
accessories, and it appears the regular size iPod has the most .

I don't have easy access to a windows or mac pc and finding more linux tools
to access or replace problem firmware for the new iPod than other mp3
players.

Ideal reply would be something like "all the new xx gig iPod " are supported.
