Hello Ivo

I just downloaded the VoiceBoxSAPI4 archive from Rockbox.
Even though I don't know your exact configuration I may have some suggestions:

1. Sometimes when an error occurs during script execution, the script engine wscript.exe doesn't terminate properly. If you attempt to run a script again while wscript.exe is still active your script is going nowhere.
To solve this problempress ctrl+alt+delete and move to the process tab. Look for the process with the name
wscript.exe and kill it.
Restart the voicebox.hta

2. You must enter the SAPI4 speech engine name exactly as it is returned by the listvoices_sapi4.vbs script.
This step is often very confusing.

If you run listvoices.vbs you're actually listing the voices available to SAPI5 which will not work with SAPI4.
Microsoft Sam, as far I remember, is a SAPI5 not a SAPI4 voice.

Best Wishes,
Peter Herngaard

Subject: voice box script for SAPI4

  Hi all

I tried the new SAPI4 voice box script of Peter, downloaded from the rockbox page .

When I started the voicebox script it runs without error report, but no talk files are generated.
  So I did the following:
  1. Checked out the SAPI4 voices on my PC wiht the script ListVoices_SAPI4.vbs
I have got a large list of speakers I never was aware about.
  2. In the SAPI4 version of the file voicebox.wsf I cahnged the constant svoice = "Reed" to a speaker I got by the list of pt. 1
For example svoice = "Roger" or svoice = "Sam"
The other constants I did not touch. I suppose they are fine to just try to generate a test file.geneate
But still no success. In the voicebox log file is no error reported, just the statement that my test folder was not voiced.

On my PC I have SAPI4 and SAPI5 voices installed. Could this be a problen?
Is there anybody out there who had success and can give me some hints.

  Best regards - Ivo
