Did you try blowing away the directories that are there? It might be
seeing the ipod_control folder and assuming it is an iPod. If the
ipod_control folder isn't there, maybe it will use it as a mass storage
device like you want it to.

Sounds like something microshaft would do--assume they know everything
about what you're doing.
