It doesn't matter *why*. You could've reproduced an identical build to the
original one you posted. Just because you didn't have it any more doesn't
mean that you couldn't remake it, as you remade it in the first place. Your
actions aren't justified by "Linus told me to do it" because he did not tell
you to provide a new version. You chose to do that. You made the original
version, and you were capable of recreating the sources. You cannot pass off
your own choices on Linus.
