screen, when the backlight fades, when you start recording?

And, in all seriousness, try not to get upset with your player. You're
installing unreleased firmware on it, and updating regularly instead
of waiting for a stable version, so bugs are to be expected. You
should consider yourself a tester, not a user, and if you aren't
willing to do so, consider finding a version of the software that
works acceptably and don't update until there's a release.
