Rockbox doesn't play avi files. But you can convert it to mp4, look at
http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/PluginMpegplayer

You can convert it to a MP3 with a AVI 2 MP3 converter or online on
http://media-convert.com/
