Rockbox comments and a suggestion

Hi,

As some may remember, I'm Amy's roommate. She posted the other day that we
finally, finally got rockbox working on the IAudio. I'm not sure if it was
the build I was trying to use or something else. I suspect part of it was my
not knowing a few things, for example that the IAudio has a very fast sleep
timer, and the voice file that I was trying to use wasn't voicing
everything. Anyway, once we got it working I played with it a bit, and I
must say I am extremely impressed! I'm half tempted to get one myself, now.
With both of us being blind, using this device with its default firmware
would be impossible or at least horribly difficult, so I for one am grateful
for all of the hard work that is put into Rockbox, especially for the voice
functionality.

I do have one suggestion that would make things even easier with the
recording function. This may have been brought up before, but it would be
great if the unit had some kind of auditory signal that recording was
starting or stopping or pausing. Preferably different signals for each, but
I'm not sure how hard or easy that would be. I've heard that the original
firmware for the IAudio had some kind of beeps that Rockbox doesn't have,
perhaps this could be incorporated? or have I heard wrong and this is
something that the mechanics of the unit won't allow? Anyway it would just
be very helpful since there is no speech in the recording screen.

Thanks!
Christy
