the Iriver H120 has a digital input and can record directly into WAV
format. Most MD home decks have digital output.Neither the Iriver
original firmware or Rockbox care too much about c0py pr0tection, so
you will be convert any MD this way.

Once recorded, the above mentioned Audacity is great to split the tracks,
which you can later encode into the target format of your choice. (Depending
on the rarity of your recordings I'd use FLAC as an archive format).
