Surely the *vast* majority of all users (blind, visually impaired or > perfectly seeing) download a voice file made by someone else? 1. I'm blind and I used too, until a few days ago, make voices successfully. 2. I make (made?) 7 voices. People had I think, quite a good choice and I know the site was used, because I looked. 3. I use windows XP. How can I install sigwin, and does it have to be sigwin? I'm a power user of windows but no other operating system. I have messed a little, with ubuntu so laugh if you like, but would it be possible to build the voices in that as it's a Linux varient, or am I speaking out the wrong end? All things I don't know. 4. Downloading a voice made by someone else is fine, but it seems and perhaps I just didn't read the Rockbox page carefully enough, that this change was almost thrust upon us. Now I'm not out to offend, belittle, or undercut anyone, and this is just my opinion so take it or leave it, but I was happy the way things worked. for me to make voices for the people that want them, I don't know what I'll do now. I don't know what players people used, and what particular voices I can use now it's a totally different system, how many voices to make, IE, an Eloquence varient for Iriver, Ipod and Iaudio, and just one varient of the Espeak for the Sansa, that kind of thing. I'd have to get user input from people on this list that used my stuff, figure out what's convenient and all that. Otherwise I have to make all 7 voices for all however many targets there are and upload that whenever English.Lang is changed which will probably be quite freequently now, and that's a lot of uploading. Before, one archive of anywhere from 8 to 10.5 MB was sufficient, but with this new system in place, how drastically is this going to change what I do? This is a lot of questioning the scheme of things, but I still want to make voices for those that want them. Even if nobody does, and users are happy with what's on the Rockbox site, for my own personal use. Somehow, this will happen. However, I'd like it to happen, knowing that I can do it, and that I won't have to depend upon people like my mother, or brother who have site, any time I want to make voices. Especially at 6 30 in the morning. Can you imagine how annoyed they'll be? 'Hi it's that time again, load up Sigwin for me will you?'
