Try to update to the most current version and also turn idol power off. That
may help.

Subject: a farther thought about the ipod freezing

Hi again everyone,

I think the ipod is going into some kind of sleep mode. If the buttons are
played with, or it is kept active by moving around the screen, all is well.
If it is left to its own devices, that is when it refuses to stop playing.
IS there some kind of setting in the menus that could remedy this behaviour?
