Rockbox mail archiveSubject: Patching the RB bootloader?Patching the RB bootloader?

There was a fellow several months back who was having some problems with the buttons on his Archos, but by making an unofficial patch for his RB firmware, he was able to solve the problem by increasing the time a button needed to be held down before its action could be performed. So that got me to thinking: my iriver's USB circutry is busted, so whenever the RB boot loader starts up, it thinks the H340's connected to the PC and hence goes into disk mode even when it shouldn't. So, how hard would it be to -- excuse my lack of knowledge, I'm not a developer myself -- "comment out," or otherwise eliminate, USB detection from my RB bootloader completely, as an unofficial patch? So in other words, RB would forget completely about USB and would just boot up the player. When I wanted USB functionality, I'd just hold REC while powering on to boot up in the iriver's original firmware!! Good scheme? What do you guys think? Grant P.s. I was thinking I could pay someone to patch it for me, or learn to do it myself...but first someone just tell me whether it'd even work.
