Date: Fri, 9 Nov 2007 19:47:44 -0600 It said that the U.S. Version of the firmware wasn't supported for the H320, so I had to install an international version. I finally got it installed and the player running, and was able to arrow through the settings, but after arrowing down from language the player did not speak and turning it off and then back on again didn't help either. Does anyone have any ideas? email and MSN: tlsyslo_at_yahoo.com skype: tlsyslo -----Original Message----- From: rockbox-bounces_at_cool.haxx.se [mailto:rockbox-bounces_at_cool.haxx.se]On Behalf Of Glenn Ervin Sent: Friday, November 09, 2007 6:19 PM To: Rockbox Subject: Re: Iriver h320 questions ----- Original Message ----- From: "Terra Syslo" <tlsyslo_at_yahoo.com> To: "Rockbox" <rockbox_at_cool.haxx.se> Sent: Friday, November 09, 2007 4:37 PM Subject: Iriver h320 questions I will try and be as specific as possible. Hopefully someone will have some suggestions. I have read the Rockbox Manual. I downloaded rockbox, unzipped it to the Iriver h320, downloaded the European firmware 1.29, ** How come you copied the European firmware? I have the iRiver 120, and I used the English. Maybe it's okay, but I did not do mine that way. Next: copied the .hex file to the hd of the Iriver, got sighted assistance to update the firmware. It updated, and powered down. I plugged the unit into my computer, and I copied the .hex file that I had patched to the hard drive. The other .hex file was still there and it overwrote that file. Now when I turn the Iriver on, it comes on for a couple seconds and shuts off. I am not able to flash the patched firmware. Does anyone have any suggestions? ** I'm not sure about the steps above, but with my H120, I copy the HEX file from the iRiver, and run the patcher on it, seems like it needs to be done twice, as the first time it gives it as an failure. Then, keeping a copy of the original unpatched HEX file, I put the patched one on the iRiver, in the root. Then you boot the iRiver, and use sighted assistance to move through the iRiver's menus to "flash firmware" and it is done. It's been about a year since I have done this, but it seems like that is the steps. I actually did mine without sighted assistance, as there was once a message sent in with the number of down arrows to take in the iRiver's menus to do this yourself. Once you have flashed it, you will only need to update the .RockBox folder, and the accompanying voice file when you wish to. HTH.
