To be on the safe side, I would strenuously recommend that you make a
backup copy of the .rockbox directory on your player before carrying out
the update. Windows Explorer will suffice for this. That way, if you
happen to run into trouble, you can delete the newly installed .rockbox
directory and put the old one back again and you've instantly got a
working player again so you are not inconvenienced while trying to
figure out the trouble.

From what folks have said, rbutil is not working perfectly with screen
readers as yet, so be aware you may face some access issues there. I
haven't used rbutil and it may have improved markedly in the time that
has elapsed since I read those comments. I'm only giving you a heads up
on what to expect. The best thing to do is try rbutil and if you can't
work with it, give the rb folks some feedback on it and go for a manual
update instead.

An hour ago, I just manually updated my H340, which had an ancient
Rockbox version on it. It went without hassles, except that when I
tried to build a custom voice file using Scansoft Samantha, the voice
building system under Cygwin is ignoring the defaults I have set in the
Windows control panel, which means I get Scansoft Daniel instead. He's
not quite the same! This won't affect you however as I imagine you'll
be downloading a .voice file from the Rockbox Web site.

Cheers,
Andrew.
