People are always looking for a way to get their malware onto my
computer. I don't want my music player to be a vector.

True, but WPA or WPA2 is good enough for Wifi right now at least. I
doubt something that complicated is feasible, but it would be nice.

Security could be as simple as a physical switch, or an option in the
firmware/Rockbox. It ought to at least be thought about, even if it
isn't implemented.
