Finally as of five days ago the Gigabeat S (aka. "The Beast") can play music since revision 17327 on 03 May, 2008. Still a ways to go to make the install easier for Windows users, using UMS on Linux needs a few tricks and a lot of coding needs to be done but you may enjoy your music on the S.

For the curious, the first song played was "Man, It's So Loud in Here" by They Might Be Giants. The first sound ever heard was an awful pulsing noise from wrong settings. :)
