That's all very well, but I do find it rather petty that people will post a
reply which *only* tells people about list rules, rather than (a) being
helpful and trying to answer the question and also (b) reminding the original
poster of the list rules.

I mean, the people running this list obviously want the rules to be followed,
whatever the rest of us think about them, however everyone *else* on this
list doesn't want their inboxes filled with reminders about petty rules and
no meaningful content.

I refer people to Linus' posting of 06 Jul 2008 10:39:06 +0200 as a good
example of how to be both helpful and remding of the rules, at the same time.
