There are relatively few players which can run Rockbox, so some tradeoffs have to be made when choosing a player. Choosing a player that has some negative attributes which can be addressed in firmware seems logical to me.
Using an ipod video, and nothing hard about turning it off. If power off in the firmware is going to be a problem, why bother. There are a lot more things we could be doing that are more important. So, I wonder, if the sansa is so bad - I wonder if keys could be re-assigned? I don't see anyone else complaining, though.
