First, do you know if this is a sansa v1 c240 or a sansa "v2" c240?
You can tell from the firmware version in the Settings / System info
menu.

If the version of the original firmware is lower than 01.01.07,
I suggest to upgrade the original firmware first to 01.01.07.
Original firmware version 01.01.07 allows MSC mode without any
special tricks.
