The Archos hardware does all of the recording and MP3 encoding.

IIRC, there's a bug in this where very occasionally a bit is dropped, so all
data from that point onwards is shifted. I vaguely also recall that someone
(amiconn?) wrote a fixer program for this, but I don't know if it's in
Rockbox or not.

Also, have you tried ths VBRFix plugin on your file? I doubt it will help,
but might be worth a go.
