Hello,

The problem is, that for all swcodec targets (all players, apart from the old
archos ones) rockbox uses speex (without headers) and not mp3. You can
create those with the rbspeex utils under tools/rbspeex.

I'm trying to record custom directory and file names, but I can't get it
to work.

I built the UI Simulator for Sansa e200 (very impressive, by the way) on
Ubuntu 9.10, got audio output working, turned on the "Voice Menus",
"Voice Directories" (spell), and "Use Directory .talk Clips" options.
The voice menus and directory spelling work nicely.

However, I can't figure out how to create a "_dirname.talk" file Rockbox
will play. I've created several MP3 files with Audacity and installed
them in the proper place, but when Rockbox attempts to play them, I get
errors like these:

notice: More than two wideband layers found. The stream is corrupted.
or
notice: Invalid mode encountered. The stream is corrupted.

Here's what file(1) says about my clips:

simdisk/matthew/_dirname.talk: MPEG ADTS, layer III, v1, 32 kbps,
44.1 kHz, Monaural
 simdisk/matthew/_dirname.talk: Audio file with ID3 version 2.4.0,
extended header, contains: MPEG ADTS, layer III, v2, 32 kbps, 22.05 kHz,
Monaural

Rockbox plays these just fine if I name them "dir.mp3" and select them.
My guess is that there are additional constraints on the _dirname.talk
files, but I have no idea how to figure out what they are.

Any advice?

Bjorn
