wonder if anyone might be able to help? I have an Iriver running an older version of rockbox, sorry cant remember which one at present.

I'm not entirely sure what is wrong, but when I boot up my player, all I hear is the disk spinning, nothing else. I cant appear to do anything with the player except with the reset button.

I should add here I'm using speech as I'm totally blind. so for all I know it's doing something just not speaking. when I hit the little reset button, I do get speech then, just says loading, then nothing.

does anyone know what I can do with the player to get it to work properly?

there's nothing on the player I'm specifically worried about, so if a format is in order then I'll have to do that.

any help at this point would be appreciated.

I was going to have a go at upgrading rockbox, but to be perfectly honest wasn't sure about doing it, didn't feel confident I'd do it correctly and end up with a functioning talking iriver.

figured while it was working happily I'd leave it alone.
